Mitsuike Park
The Kantō region (関東地方 Kantō-chihō) is a geographical area of Honshu, the largest island of Japan. The region includes the Greater Tokyo Area and encompasses seven prefectures: Gunma, Tochigi, Ibaraki, Saitama, Tokyo, Chiba, and Kanagawa.
Kanagawa Prefecture (神奈川県 Kanagawa-ken) is a prefecture located in southern Kantō region of Japan. The capital of the prefecture is Yokohama. Kanagawa is part of the Greater Tokyo Area.
Yokohama (Japanese: 横浜市 Hepburn: Yokohama-shi) is the second largest city in Japan by population, after Tokyo, and the most populous municipality of Japan. It is the capital city of Kanagawa Prefecture. It lies on Tokyo Bay, south of Tokyo, in the Kantō region of the main island of Honshu.
The Tsurumi River (鶴見川 Tsurumi-gawa) is a river in Kanagawa and Tokyo Prefectures on Honshū. It begins at the confluence of the Onda and Yamoto rivers in Yokohama and flows 22 kilometers before emptying into Tokyo Bay.
Mitusike means three ponds. The Mitsuike Park is a spacious garden, 300,000 square meters in area, with three ponds and bountiful nature. 1,600 cherry trees from 78 different species are planted, and the park is famous enough to be selected one of Japan's top 100 cherry blossom spots.
"Hanami" [花見[はなみ]] is the Japanese word meaning "flower viewing" and is also the term used to describe the traditional custom of viewing cherry blossoms (sakura) which bloom at the end of March/early April.
Mitsuike Park has not only ponds but also the park is located on many small mountains. So, there are many short hiking courses with beautiful trees and flowers.
